Fire is merciless, life is priceless!
The 2025 "119" Fire Protection Awareness Month has arrived as scheduled. Recently, the company successfully held the "Everyone's Fire Safety, Life First–Safe Use of Fire and Electricity" fire safety training session.
This training was led by the company's Safety Officer, Wang Jing. The event achieved its intended purpose and yielded positive results.

I. Constant Vigilance: Review of Recent Fire Cases
The training analyzed multiple fire incidents that have occurred consecutively across the country since the beginning of this year, including:
The major factory fire in Guangxi Xing'an 309 Industrial Park,
The explosion and fire at a chemical plant in Henan Luoyang,
The microwave oven fire at Sichuan Emeishan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital,
Factory fires in Guangdong Dongguan, Zhejiang Ningbo, Fujian Jinjiang, and other locations,
The sudden major fire at shops on Liuzhou Pedestrian Street...
These incidents remind us once again: The danger of fire is fiercer than a tiger; prevention must not be relaxed.

II. Fire Basics: The Three Elements of Combustion

Combustion requires three necessary conditions: Combustible Material, Oxidizing Agent, and Ignition Source. These three form the fire triangle.
Combustible Material:Any substance that can undergo a combustion chemical reaction with oxygen or other oxidizing agents in the air, such as wood, paper, oil, etc.
Oxidizing Agent:A substance that helps and supports the combustion of combustible materials, primarily oxygen in the air.
Ignition Source:The energy source that supplies the energy for the combustion reaction of the combustible material, including open flames, electrical sparks, hot surfaces, etc.
Be mindful in daily life, stay calm during a disaster.
III. Understanding Common Firefighting Equipment and Signs
This training once again detailed common firefighting equipment and signs, including:
Fire Hydrant:Connect the hose and nozzle, aim at the base of the fire. Blocking or obstructing it daily is prohibited.
Manual Fire Alarm Call Point:Press in case of emergency to activate the alarm.
Smoke/Heat Detectors:Automatically detect smoke or high temperature, providing early warning. Usually installed on ceilings.
Emergency Lights and Exit Signs:Indicate the safe escape route.
Fire Extinguisher:Types include Dry Powder, CO₂, Water-Based, etc. Usage Method: Lift the extinguisher, Pull the safety pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep side to side.
Fire Door:An emergency exit used for escape during a fire. Locking or blocking it under normal circumstances is strictly prohibited.

IV. Four Basic Fire Extinguishing Methods

Based on the three necessary conditions for combustion, we can conclude that the principle of extinguishing a fire is to break the fire triangle.
Cooling Method:Use water or cooling agents to reduce the temperature of the burning material. Suitable for ordinary solid fires.
Isolation Method:Cut off the supply of combustible materials (e.g., close the gas valve) to prevent the fire from spreading.
Smothering Method:Use a fire blanket or wet cloth to cover the fire source, cutting off the oxygen supply to extinguish the flames.
Inhibition Method (Chemical Inhibition):Use dry powder or CO₂ fire extinguishers to inhibit the chain reaction of combustion, extinguishing the fire quickly.
Different types of fires require different extinguishing methods. For example, oil fires must never be extinguished with water!
V. Fire Escape "Ten Dos" and "Eight Don'ts"

In case of fire, remember these "Ten Tips" for self-rescue:
1. Always be aware of escape routes.
2. Stay calm and evacuate quickly upon encountering a fire.
3. Evacuate swiftly, crawl low if there is smoke, avoid standing upright.
4. Use emergency exits, do not take the elevator—it's a dead end.
5. If trapped by smoke and fire, seek refuge and defend in place properly.
6. If clothing catches fire, stop, drop, and roll—do not run.
7. Extinguish small fires to benefit others and yourself.
8. Jumping from a height is a last resort; use techniques to minimize injury.
9. Escape the danger zone quickly, value life over property.
10. When in danger, help others if possible while ensuring your own escape.
Avoid these "Eight Behaviors" in a fire:
1. Returning the original way you came.
2. Blindly running towards light.
3. Following others in jumping out of windows.
4. Blindly rushing downstairs.
5. Risking a jump from a great height.
6. Using the elevator.
7. Opening a door without checking for heat/smoke.
8. Clinging to possessions and valuables.
VI. Principles of Alarm and Firefighting
Let's remember together:
Early Alarm, Less Loss:Clearly state the address, fire situation, and contact information.
Sound Alarm While Fighting:Control the initial fire promptly.
Rescue People First, Then Property:Life comes first.
Prevent Poisoning and Suffocation:Be aware of smoke, wear a mask if available.
Follow Instructions, Don't Panic:Evacuate orderly, respond scientifically.
Fire safety concerns the life and property safety of everyone.
By learning fire protection knowledge, mastering firefighting skills, and improving self-rescue capabilities, we can effectively prevent fires and reduce losses.
